Supporting a Multi-DRM Content Strategy

Using Digital Rights Management (DRM) to secure and protect content means you have some choices to make. These choices, the ones you make in packaging and encrypting your content, have a direct impact on the devices that ultimately play your content. To reach as many viewers as possible, you will need to reach as many devices as possible. And to do this, you will need a multi-DRM strategy that takes into account the following:

Viewers of your content are unknowingly making DRM choices based on the browser or mobile platform they are using to consume content.

mpx Remote Media Processor

With the upcoming update of the mpx Remote Media Processor (RMP), mpx will package and secure content in the following combinations.

This multi-DRM approach in combination with support for the leading adaptive bitrate streaming standards enables operators and content providers to deliver protected content to all mobile and browser based media players, including game consoles and smart TVs.

Captions & Subtitles

In addition, this latest update to the mpx RMP enables support for WebVTT captions in the Apple HLS streaming format (WebVTT provides captions or subtitles for video content). Delivered over HLS, mpx will provide Apple-compliant closed captioning and subtitling using the native M3U8 manifest.

Easier Multi-DRM

In the coming weeks, we will provide updates on how mpx makes it easier for you to protect content and stay ahead of the continuously evolving DRM landscape.
