Help your content be seen securely on more screens

October 11, 2023

The Cloud Video Platform (CVP) from Comcast Technology Solutions (CTS) provides DRM security as a service for every monetized play. It supports Apple FairPlay Streaming, Google Widevine Modular and Microsoft PlayReady, and it meets the security requirements of MovieLabs and Hollywood studios for premium content.

CVP also controls just-in-time packaging and encryption, so each playback request is prepared from one master file. You don't have to store a separate encrypted copy for every destination, which matters more as 4K files get bigger.

By the numbers: Up to 99.99% availability · FairPlay, Widevine and PlayReady in one service · Monitored by the CTS 24x7 NOC · Multi-region cloud infrastructure

Frequently asked questions

The Cloud Video Platform from Comcast Technology Solutions encrypts media with common encryption (CENC), which can then be decrypted with Google Widevine Modular, Apple FairPlay Streaming or Microsoft PlayReady. That lets one encrypted asset play across Smooth Streaming, MPEG-DASH and HLS.

Yes. CVP multi-DRM meets the security requirements of MovieLabs and Hollywood studios for premium content, with secure licensing, key management, key storage and auditing of license acquisition events.

Just-in-time packaging and encryption (JITP/E) prepares content for each playback request from one master file, instead of storing separate encrypted files for every destination. CVP controls JITP/E workflows, which saves storage as high-quality video files grow.

The service runs on a self-healing, multi-region cloud architecture with availability of up to 99.99%. It is pre-scaled to handle traffic bursts and actively monitored by the CTS 24x7 network operations center.

Yes. Persistent license sessions support offline viewing for downloads and wireless onboard entertainment scenarios, and CVP supports offline rentals with FairPlay and Widevine.

CVP content rights supports live, SVOD, TVOD, EST, AVOD, pay-per-view and FAST, along with hybrid models that combine several monetization options.
